there are not fix charges ( Price fixing is not legal) However most charges are almost within the acceptance range among suppliers to stay competitive.
And for the billing items it may also interpreted differently depend on individual supplier . Generally it would meant below
-break bulk fee (work done for segregate /tally a combine unit of shipment to individual consignment)
-airport transfer fee (transfer of goods from Airline/Carrier terminal to General warehouse)
-C.A.F 5% (Currency Adjustment Factor applied to charges of services done in Foreign country but paid in Malaysia)
-CFS charge (Container Freight Station charges - similar to Port handing charges for cargo stuffing and unstuffing/ tally and etc for Less Container load (LCL)
-Container cleaning fee (Container are rented by shipper to carry it cargo . Receive in cleaned condition, must be return back in cleaned condition. If not need cleaning. Or compulsory cleaning by some.
-customs attend. fee (Malaysia custom clearance process still involve presending custom paper by hand to custom officer.)
-custom clearance (Custom clearance process involve more than a single person job. It involve a team (department).Therefore admistrative need to be charges
-customs duties (Clearly stated)
-customs settlement ( No such Billing) May be it means addition service fees if the process need more trips to attend to custom office due to incomplete documentation. There are administrative fees and operation fees for every custom paper presentation.
-FCZ processing fee (Charge charge by the Airport for transaction done in the free commercial Zone)
-inbound airfreight charges (Freight charges if payable by consignee)
-storage and labour fee (Clearly Stated)

However since the past few years THC charges charged by individual carrier has varies beside more and more charge items included from time to time such as container seals charges, LOLO and we never know what more since they are a need in the logistics chain.
Hi Vijay, you can be an individual , an enterprise or a Sdn Bhd company to be an importer. My advice is since you plan to bring in grocery items ( YES. many of those in this category will need IMPORT PERMIT),suggest you to get to know a forwarding company to get guidance.

Hi Hanson, for small packaging , why not just use courier service such as UPS , FEDEX and etc. They will do door to door. I cannot see any problem you should encounter for a 50kgs goods unless your item is not fit for transport or a contraband. And you need a party to act as shipper in USA (No Freight forwarder will act on your behalf , as nobody want risk taking ownership of any unknown parcel) How this clear your doubt

Usually my order is around 30-40kg in carton boxes. Roughly 1 carton is around 20kg.

To have an accurate charges you need to contact a freight agent. You will need to give more information on the shipping term and your responsibility on at Port of Loading, cargo type and conditions, pick up location and etc. I would said estimated ocean freight would be around USD700 more or less per 20ft + local export charges + average trucking fee/distance would come to about USD700 to USD1000/20ft .
