Hi Kent, i suggest you contact a forwarding agent (custom broker). What type of footwear are you bringing in. If it is just of mainly rubber , it will be straight forward (Hs code 6402.. ) but if it falls to category of hs code 6403...to 6406...then the footwear subject to inspection by related Government Authorities such as MAQIS , wild life and veterinary department if it is of leather . It is also on a look out at counterfeit goods and trademarks or importing right. I cannot recommend you a company , but i believe you can easy contact one by browsing forwarding directory.
You may also consider requesting your supplier in China to provide you Form E (certificate of origin). With this you can enjoy a preferential tariff which could be zero % import duty compare to 20 to 25% duty on some items. You can check custom tariff on this address http://tariff.customs.gov.my/

Custom Clearance Bangalore | International Air & Sea Transporters
Hi, we recently used an agent to import our car from Southampton to Northport, Port Klang. It was sent LCL in a 20' container. The agent in turn liased with the shipper and forwarding agent and got the necessary documents from various ministries. There is no import tax as we have diplomatic status. Due to some delays, the shipper also paid late demurrage fees which the agent then settled first. On their bill, the shipping agent, here in M'sia, APL, have charged us CMC of RM105, DDC of RM410, DDF of RM200, EDI of RM30. Also late demurrage fees of RM1270 (almost 3 weeks worth), and late EDO fees of RM200. The forwarding agent has charged us documentation fees of RM20, EDI fees of RM30, Forwarding fees of RM250, what I think are haulier charges, CFS, of RM901, and inspection formalities of RM150. The agent's charges for her services were RM3500 for preparation of customs form for submission to MOFA, application for AP to MITI, car towing from Port Klang, Inspection at Puspakom, making of registration plate, apply e-registration, registration of car at road transport and delivery of car to our residence. I spoke to a relative who used to work in shipping (wish I had spoken to her earlier) about these invoices and she was surprised that our agent hadn't given us a standard quotation on APL's charges and the forwarding company's charges. Also she questioned why the late demurrage fees were paid by the shipper as she said it's usually the forwarding agent who pays these and also EDI is charged by the forwarding agent. But I notice we've been charged EDI by both shipper and forwarding agent. I questioned our agent on some of these charges but she told me to speak to the APL and the other company directly. I have phoned APL and they said the 4 items were what they normally charge for. I didn't get a good explanation as to why the EDO was late except to say once it's over 7 days, we automatically get charged late EDO of RM200. Do all these charges on the invoices sound reasonable to you? Should we be questioning anyone about any item? Thanks in advance.
